This past week while on the road, I got some great news. In November, I took a Spanish fluency exam given through the Spanish government. It’s called the DELE (Diploma Español como Lengua Extranjera). My goal during 2007 was not only to learn to speak Spanish fluently, but to pass this exam. There are 3 levels: Basic, Intermediate and Superior. I went for the gusto and took the Superior level. And, I passed. The pass rate is about 60-65%. So, I felt great about this. And, even though I felt I had done my best and thought that even if I didn’t pass, it wouldn’t matter, it did feel good to know that I now have this accreditation behind me. So, when I go back to BA next week, I’ll be stopping by my language institute to celebrate with my professors and staff. ¡Dále!

Congratulations! No small feat to pass fluency exams – don’t know I’d make the grade in my own language
