There are lots of places where you can feel like you’re transported back in time while traveling in Colombia. Frequent readers of the blog know that I love Villa de Leyva and Cartagena. But, even in the giant metropolis of Bogota, you can find that old feel in La Candelaria. Cobblestone streets, old architecture, old second-floor verandas and plenty of churches will help you get a feel for Colombia’s colonial history. There are lots of photo opportunities. But, i would recommend that with Bogota’s overcast skies, you might want to make sure your camera can handle low light situations. Today’s Suh-Weet Shot gives you a little taste of what you can expect to find once you arrive.

    Hi Jeff,
happy to see you’re traveling in Colombia!
I did it last year and I loved it.
Candelaria is very nice but sometime little scary at night. I was once visiting a friend in a hostel and ready to leave at night to go back to mine, when a Colombian girl working there told me to take a bottle of beer when walking in the street “in case something happen”… :)
I didn’t follow the advise but I was pretty scared to walk back!

Wow, Colombia looks amazing. I really hope I get to go one day. All the colours and the general atmosphere of the place would make for some great photos! Yours is great :)
