Growing up, I saw the old commercials showing Juan Valdez in the coffee fields picking coffee. I thought that Juan Valdez was just a marketing creation for the US market. But, I learned after my first trip to Colombia that Juan (or J-Val as I like to call him) is the local and global embodiment of the Colombian coffee industry. The coffee industry has a real-life actor playing that part for public events. I attended the Day of Solidarity parade or Caminata de la Solidaridad) and J-Val made an appearance. I was in a great place to get this Suh-Weet Shot of him waving to the crowd.
