You can’t travel to Colombia and not hear about Botero. He’s the one that paints and sculpts the fat people. Not everyone gets his style or what he’s trying to convey, but his work always gets a conversation started. There are two primary places to see his work in Colombia. There’s Botero Park in Medellin. The other is in Bogota at the Botero Museum where you can see his sculptures, his paintings and a collection of some of his favorite artists from around the world. The sculptures are all lit with spot lights so all you shutterbugs can have a lot of fun playing with angels and light in your photos. Here I got a closeup of this lady holding an apple with one of Botero’s paintings in the background for this week’s Suh-Weet Shot.

I loved the Botero Museum in Bogota! It was my first introduction to this famous artist.
I have seen Boteros work all over the place – I’d love to see his museum in Columbia. I like how you mention that his work always gets conversations started. If the point of art is to feel (rather than feel good) than I think his work is very effective. Thanks for sharing.

Not usually a fan of this style, but this statue has a particular charm. I like it. Nice shot!
