Jeff Jung is returning to the US to hold a series of travel events for people who are interested in taking a break from their normal life and go abroad for a few months. Named the Because Life Is Out There Tour, each event will show every individual attending how they can make a career break happen for themselves. ¨I started Career Break Secrets to show people that a career break is in their reach. During the tour I promise to take people from armchair traveler to world traveler faster, cheaper and smarter than they ever thought possible,¨ said Jeff.

Known as ¨The Career Break Travel Guy,¨ Jeff will have a variety of small, intimate sessions at local businesses like coffee shops, wine bars and language centers. Seating is limited at each event to ensure that participants have the opportunity to interact with Jeff individually. ¨This event is specifically for people dreaming of a break and those that have started to move into the planning stage,¨ said Jeff.

These hour-long sessions will walk people through Jeff’s ¨Peace of Mind¨ planning process and take people through the career break lifecycle: Dreaming, Planning, Traveling and Reentry. Jeff will cover important topics like how to leave your job, how to budget, how to plan your itinerary and how to reenter once you’re back from your big trip. He’ll also deal with sensitive issues like how to ¨come out¨ to your friends and family and share your news with them. ¨People should come ready to put pen to paper. These sessions will be interactive and we’ll start applying the planning principles at the session. I want every person who leaves to take the outline of their plan with them.¨

Included in the $29.99 ticket price is a copy of Jeff’s book, The Career Break Traveler’s Handbook, which is part of The Traveler’s Handbook series. ¨With their outline in hand, participants can use my book to hash out the details of their plan and discover what other resources exist that can help them. I’ll also introduce them to the online career break community so they can meet other like-minded individuals. Hopefully, they’ll start building that community locally with others that they meet.¨

Dates are confirmed for the first two cities of the Because Life Is Out There National Tour. San Antonio’s events will be held from Febraury 17-22, 2014. Austin’s events will be from February 24-March 1, 2014. There will be events morning, noon and night to accomodate people’s busy schedules.

The Career Break Travel Show has made its premiere on The Venture Channel, a new global travel channel by ConvergTV. The Career Break Travel Show takes viewers on adventures around the world to reignite, reconnect, and rediscover their passion for life through travel.

¨This is the fulfillment of a dream. I am thrilled to see this day finally arrive,¨ said Jeff Jung, the host and producer of the show. ¨When I founded Career Break Secrets back in 2009, I wanted to reach as many people as possible to inspire them and encourage career break travel. We started with the blog, then last Fall my book The Career Break Traveler’s Handbook launched. Now, the TV show will allow us to reach people from all over the world.¨

The Venture Channel is now available via Roku’s set-top boxes; cost for the channel is 99¢ a month. The Career Break Travel Show airs 10 times per week (1-2 times a day), A full program guide is available on ConvergTV’s website. The channel can also be found on NetTalkTV and later this summer via live streaming and on-demand, on iTunes/Apple TV. Soon it will be available on Amazon, XBox, and Wii and many more set-top boxes. On October 18, 2011, Meet, Plan, Go! will hold their second annual nationwide event in 17 cities to inspire people to fulfill their career break and long-term travel dreams. The event will offer participants the opportunity to MEET inspirational speakers and like-minded travelers; get motivation, contacts and resources necessary to PLAN the trip of a lifetime; and start taking concrete steps forward to GO on that global adventure.

The event in Austin will be held at Abel’s on the Lake, doors open at 7pm, and will be hosted by Jeff Jung, the career break travel guy and co-founder of Austin-based, CareerBreakSecrets.com The program will feature a panel of individuals who have either fulfilled their own world travel dreams or are currently in the planning stages. All together now… Ditch The Cubicle! Jeff Jung, the Career Break Travel Guy and host of the Career Break Secrets Travel Show, has teamed up with Gap Adventures to raise awareness of Career Break Travel in Canada. Over the next week, he’ll travel across the country as part of a national campaign to inspire Canadians considering a career break to Ditch The Cubicle.

¨As a recognized leader in the career break travel space, Jeff was a natural fit for our program. His wealth of knowledge and strong understanding about the issues surrounding sabbaticals added credibility to our campaign,” says Timothy Chan, Gap Adventures’ Public Relations Specialist.

The campaign launches just in time for Labor Day, a holiday tracing its origins to the eight-hour-day movement (began over a 100 years ago) which advocated for 8 hours of labor/8 hours recreation/8 hours rest for workers — the original work/life balance movement. The Gap Adventures Labor Day survey found that nearly half (47%) of Canadians feel they don’t have enough work/life balance, and more than half (64%) feel overwhelmed or stressed at work at least occasionally. 51% of Canadians often think about taking a career break and three-quarters (74%) would take a career break if nothing stood in the way. Barriers to taking a career break are affordability, security, and the perceived loneliness of solo travel. The campaign, including the video series hosted by Jeff, is targeted to these issues with solutions to make career breaks a possibility for those who want to take one.

I woke up on Christmas Day with a great surprise: Career Break Secrets was featured in the LA Times Travel Section. Written by travel writer Jen Leo, she wrote about what she thought was ¨hot¨ and ¨not¨ about the site. I felt that they coverage was fair. And, where she critiqued us on amount of content, I have say, I’m with you Jen, and we’re working to get more up.  The post ended with a great comment about where we are and where we are going, ¨Careerbreaksecrets is well on its way to becoming a go-to resource for travelers looking for long-term escapes.¨ That’s certainly what we intend to become.
