I don’t have much to say about this photo. To me it’s a quintessential shot of Paris in the summer. On this trip to France, I didn’t get a chance to ride the big ferris wheel. Then again, I had already done so on my first trip to the city in 2005. As I passed it by on a mostly clear summer day, I couldn’t help  but capture this week’s Suh-Weet Shot.

There aren’t many cathedrals that have the allure that this Parisian landmark has. If there’s a downside, it’s that there are too many people wanting to see it. But, even if it’s on every touristy list, it’s still worth checking out. Whether you see it for religious, architectural or historical reasons, it is impressive. I was struck by how huge it was. I had seen many in Latin America of a grand scale. But, this bad boy had its own presence. Of course, you notice while traveling in France, architects compete with each other to add their mark, especially in Paris; Notre Dame certainly stands the test of time. I got this shot on a partly cloudy summer day and am making it today’s Suh-Weet Shot.

I went traveling to France, and Paris specifically, for a friend’s wedding. I didn’t realize that the reception was going to be on a boat on the Seine. After boarding our boat in the late afternoon, we started our cruise…with champagne in hand. I really loved seeing Paris from this perspective. Boats, bridges, monuments like the Eiffel Tower, all seemed to show off a different face. One thing I never noticed before was all the boats on the river. I had seen the party cruise boats before. But, there were even quite a few houseboats. I thought only the Dutch lived on the river! As the sun set on my friend’s wedding day, I was able to capture this week’s Suh-Weet Shot.
