Almost a year ago, we created a fund raising drive for The Career Break Travel Show in Indie Gogo. It was a hard decision to make. After all, up until that point, the show had been completely self-funded. But, the time it was taking to get it to TV was taking its toll. Giving up was not an option, but we needed a way to help us move forward.

Enter our IndieGogo campaign.

We put the word out about our show. By the time we announced the fundraising campaign, we were well into talks with the Venture Channel about picking up our series. So, we felt safe that we could ask friends, family and supporters for funds knowing that our show was going to be aired, even if we weren’t sure of the timing.

In all, we raised just over $2600 from 33 people, who we promised that we’d thank right here on our site. In addition, I want to thank some other supporters, other bloggers and travel companies that donated to the cause to help give us some great things to give away.

Next steps:

We’ve already fulfilled many of the Indie Gogo perks we’ve promised. I have not sent out the postacards from Colombia yet. Those are coming. I promise. I still have to fulfill the photos I’ve promised and copies of the series will be coming once they’ve been launched on TV. So, look for that at the end of the year.

And, we’re just waiting on the channel to launch. Once it does, we will be one of the anchor shows so there will be lots of opportunities to catch every episode. More to come! Thanks to all for helping us get our start.

Career Break Secrets announces signing Letter of Intent with ConvergTV for The Career Break Travel Show to be an anchor series on its new travel network The Venture Channel, launching this September.

The Career Break Travel show will inspire you to make your “someday” dream, a reality today. Follow host Jeff Jung around the world on adventures to reignite, reconnect, and rediscover your passion for life through travel.

“It is our mission to inspire more people to consider this type of travel and provide the advice to help them plan their trip.” says Jung. “These are resources I did not have when I took my career break, which is what inspired me to create them.”

Known as the “Career Break Travel Guy”, Jeff is an experienced world traveler and career breaker who provides advice on planning, taking and returning from a career break or long-term travel adventure. Each episode will take you to a different locale to learn something new, give back through volunteering or take a path less traveled to really experience “the road”.

“Now, for the first time, there will be a travel show to inspire career break travel,” continues Jung, “and The Venture Channel will make it available on a global-scale.”

The Venture Channel is ConvergTV’s initial network, with travel shows and related programming, being launched this Fall to cable, IPTV, OTT and mobile companies around the world.

“The Venture Channel is not intended for just the armchair adventures, but those compelled to discover the world,” says Kevin Curl, CEO of ConvergTV. “The Career Break Travel Show has a balance of travel adventure and information that makes it both entertaining and inspiring. We want the programming to inspire the audience – and The Career Break Travel Show will do that.”

Later this year, ConvergTV will be adding over 20 more channels to its line-up, including SportsXTREME, Hard GAN (Global Animation Network), and music channels.
